Who Is This Course For?
The Stepping Up Course is designed for riders who have already completed their CBT and are ready to progress onto larger motorcycles and structured full licence training.
To get the most from this course, riders should have a minimum of 3 months riding experience on a 125cc motorcycle on UK roads. This ensures you have developed the basic control, awareness, and road confidence needed to safely progress onto a larger machine.
This course is ideal if you:
- Have at least 3 months’ experience riding a 125cc motorcycle on the road
- Are confident with basic bike control and road positioning
- Want to transition smoothly onto a larger motorcycle
- Are preparing to begin Module 1 and Module 2 test training
What Is the Stepping Up Course?
This is a focused 4-day training programme designed to bridge the gap between CBT-level riding and full licence test standard.
You’ll build confidence on a larger motorcycle, refine your control, and develop the skills required to successfully complete both Module 1 and Module 2 tests.
Training is progressive, supportive, and tailored to help you feel fully prepared at every stage.
Stepping Up Course
Course Structure
Day 1 – Module 1 Training
Location: Selby’s Yard Arrival: 08:45 | Start: 09:00 | Finish: 15:00
You’ll begin with off-road training to build confidence on a larger motorcycle in a controlled environment.
Once ready, you will progress onto public roads, focusing on:
- Machine control and handling
- Confidence building on a larger bike
- Introduction to Module 1 & Module 2 skills
Day 2 – Module 1 & Module 2 Training
Location: Selby’s Yard Arrival: 08:45 | Start: 09:00 | Finish: 15:00
A full day of structured riding, developing the key skills required for your tests.
You will cover:
- Wheeling the motorcycle and correct stand use
- Slalom and figure-of-eight control
- Slow-speed riding
- U-turns
- Cornering techniques
- Controlled and emergency stops
- Hazard avoidance
Day 3 – Module 1 test & Module 2 Training
Location: Selby’s Yard Times: TBC (DVSA dependent)
Due to test availability, timings may vary.
Where possible:
- Training will take place prior to your test
- Additional preparation may follow if time allows
Your instructor will ensure you are fully prepared and supported throughout the day.
Module 2 Test Day
Location: Selby’s Yard Times: TBC (DVSA dependent)
Your final stage is your on-road Module 2 test.
You will receive:
- Pre-test preparation where scheduling allows
- Guidance to ensure you arrive calm, prepared, and ready to perform
The course concludes upon completion of your test.

- Honda of Bournemouth 5B Leyland Road, Poole, Dorset, BH12 5HB
What to Bring
Please ensure you bring:
- Full riding kit (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, trousers)
- UK provisional or full driving licence
- Glasses or contact lenses if required
- Refreshments or money for food and drink
If needed, helmet, jacket, and gloves can be provided upon request. Please note: you will not be able to participate without the appropriate safety equipment.
