CBT is a mandatory training course for all new motorcycle and moped riders in the UK. It ensures that riders have the basic skills and understanding needed to ride safely on the road. Successful completion of CBT allows you to ride on the road with L-plates for two years.
The CBT certificate is valid for two years. If you haven't passed your full motorcycle test within this period, you'll need to either retake CBT or stop riding until you pass.
